I'm Jessica Kennedy Vickers — a data and analytics leader, a filmmaker, and someone who was tired of choosing which version of herself got to show up.

​

My corporate career started in defense systems engineering and has taken me through Royal Caribbean, NBCUniversal, and The Walt Disney Company, where I currently lead analytics and innovation work. I build the reporting infrastructure, AI adoption frameworks, and data platforms that let leadership move faster and decide with confidence - but the real work is translation: taking something technical and making it usable, taking something chaotic and making it clear. That’s the skill underneath every title I’ve held. I hold a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Jackson State University and an M.Eng. in Systems Engineering from Old Dominion University.

I'm a two-time speaker at the Grace Hopper Celebration, where I've talked candidly about the career pivots that got me here. I've also been recognized by publications and organizations for my work supporting HBCU students and those pursuing STEM careers, and I was honored as a member of the Alpha Cohort of Jackson State University's Top 40 Under 40 — where I was also named the cohort's top fundraiser.

At some point, the engineer and storyteller in me stopped competing for airtime and started working together. That shift is the reason Wood and Rose Productions - my production company - exists. I write, direct, and produce films that sit with the things families don't say out loud.

My first short film, Endless Cycle, follows a woman through a major health decision and the marriage that holds her through it. It's currently on the festival circuit. I'm also producing Thibodeauxville - The Story of The Thibodaux Massacre: Race, Riot, and Resilience, a feature documentary on the 1887 Thibodaux Massacre, alongside director Christina Hill and narrator/Executive Producer Wendell Pierce.
